Jaden Smith's "JUST Goods" Foundation to bring clean water to Flint
Jaden Smith’s foundation on Friday announced it would team up with a church to bring clean water to Flint, Mich.
The rapper’s JUST goods foundation is working with the First Trinity Missionary Baptist church based in Flint to deploy a mobile water filtration system, The Associated Press reported.
The system, also referred to as “The Water Box,” was reportedly designed by JUST Goods, Inc. to reduce lead in the city's water and other possible contaminants.
Smith, the son of actors Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, is a founding partner of the eco-friendly bottled water company, which specializes in making its packaging for water from renewable resources, according to The Detroit Metro Times.
The local Baptist church, which also reportedly collaborated with the foundation to design the filtration system, has distributed millions of bottles of water since the water crisis Flint began in 2014.
It has been almost 5 years since the Flint water crisis started, which began after the city’s drinking water source was changed from the Detroit River water pipeline to water from the Flint River that had not been treated for corrosion control at the time.
